Our Dearest Usual Spot, NosThés Bistro

Shared by Ling @ H1ME

NosThés Bistros Montréal
Rate: 3½ stars

General Overview
Sorry, we're late!! Ling has been quite busy lately and is going to have finals soon so the updates will lack OTL But hey, we went to NosThés 2 weeks in a row so here's our update for 2 weeks!

Honestly, the hype of NosThés is gone. We still pass by here because it's our usual hang out spot. Our favorite seats are obviously upstairs where no one has to disturb us while we sit and chat there for a while. We need a day where we just talk about life and other stuffs you know.

So even if we talk about this place almost every time we have a food post, it is a disappointment. 3½ stars is even way too much for them. Back then when they were still on St-Mathieu Street, they were still a relatively small bubble tea bistro and quite warming. We went there for 4 hours with 8 drinks and 2 lunches once! Crazy, yeah! However, now, we only go for 2 drinks, and some times food. Actually, we haven't had their food for a long long time now. Probably back during the Fall semester as Ling and Sandy would eat there from time to time.

Anyway, back to the critic. Their service is quite horrible. The staffs there are bad. Like real bad. Except for the older ones that have been there since forever, they're still doing their job well. However, the new ones... It's another story. We usually try to tone down our disappointment on the food critics, but really, for a place that we pass by frequently, it's disappointment. We know, we know. Why still do there if you don't like it? Simple reason, it's been our hang out place since forever, and it's comfy and bubble tea, need to say more? We're not coffee people, so we won't hang out at some Starbucks or Second Cups.

Week 1

For our first week's menu:

- General Tao Poutine

Yeah, first time you hear it, you go like "What the actual??" But being Ling, you have to try the exotic stuffs. You never know, it might be really good!

But for this case.... Better go with a common dish. Save your soul, please. The dish is made out of sweet potato fries that was dipped in some rice flour? Super low quality cheese that you can probably find on sale 24/7 at supermarkets and sweet General Tao chicken. This combination is a total fail. Not sure how do people enjoy that though..

See picture below. We were proud we could finish about half of the dish. It's totally not of our taste, we've learned our lesson now! No General Tao poutine!!

Side note: Just their Taiwanese Fries alone are pretty good. This mix just isn't the best.. So if you want a small snack, their fries are okay!

- Large (Erika forgot) Milk Tea with Herbal Jelly
- Regular Jasmine Green Milk Tea with Litchi Jelly

- Regular (Erika forgot)
- Regular Strawberry Sorbet Iced Tea with Regular Bubbles

If anyone wondering, they're basically a group of people attending the same church! So the staffs are all friendly within themselves.

Week 2

Ling's verdict
If you know me, or follow me on my social media stuffs, you'll see I'm basically eating dumplings 24/7. Dumplings are life okay. It's been a while since I got dumplings from NosThés, especially since we don't usually order food anymore. Being curious, I took them. It was the pork fried one, I believe. To be very frank, if you want good dumplings, just go to Chinatown. You got a variety of places that serve awesome and delicious dumplings, just about 10 minutes away from Downtown.
The dumplings are edible and good, but it gets boring after your 5th or so. I'm not even sure what's wrong with these dumplings, they're just not as tasty. Mind you, even if I got a small tummy, I can easily stuff many dumplings haha. The taste is just right, the crisp of the frying is just right. Just nothing too special, like normal regular dumplings.

Erika's verdict
This was actually pretty good, although it would have been better without the tomatoes :(

- Large (Erika forgot)
- Large (Erika forgot) Milk Tea with Litchi Jelly
- Regular Caramel Creamy Milk Tea with Litchi Jelly
- Regular Strawberry Sorbet Iced Tea
